Pilot Butte Middle School
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Pilot Butte Middle School in beautiful Bend, Oregon! We will do whatever it takes to help all of our nearly 700 outstanding students excel. Maintaining high levels of academic rigor, building and strengthening relationships, and ensuring relevant curriculum is key to our success.
Our internationally recognized IB-Middle Years Programme (MYP) encourages students to become critical and reflective thinkers, and to make connections with the real world through action and service. Pilot Butte students take a diverse mix of eight subjects during their three years at Pilot Butte.
A balanced and growing mix of extra-curricular activities are also offered, consisting of a variety of clubs and athletics.
At Pilot Butte Middle School, our vision is to be “recognized as a community of academic excellence, leadership, and character as we embrace diversity and inspire global thinking.” We use a student-centered approach to teaching and learning, with data-based decisions being made depending on what is best for our students. We also focus on how students learn, such as with communication, research, and self-management skills — to help our 21st Century learners as they prepare for the future.
We want all of our students to be life-long learners who are developing their abilities to self-assess, work collaboratively, and to use inquiry, problem solving, and creativity skills to help make a better world.
