Event Rescheduled!

Financial Aid Night Moved To Next Week - Wed, Jan 24

Article Date: Jan 20, 2024

Due to inclement weather this event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 24th at 6pm, in the MVHS school library.

The 2024/25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has finally opened! In order to support you with this process, we will be hosting a Financial Aid Night on Jan 24th at 6pm in our Library for parents/guardians and students. General information about the FAFSA and other state aid will be presented. If you would like hands-on support to complete the FAFSA after the presentation, please be sure to create your FSA ID prior to the event. More info and “how to” guide here: FSA ID. Here is a youtube video as well: How to create your FSA ID. Other items needed for FAFSA completion: tax returns; records of child support received (if applicable); current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts; and net worth of investments, businesses, and farm (if applicable), as well as a secure electronic device.

Wanted to also share the latest info from the U.S. Dept. of Education regarding the new 2024/25 FAFSA:

The Department has started the soft launch of the 2024-25 FAFSA form, where the form will be available for periods of time over the coming days while we monitor site performance and respond in real time to any potential issues impacting the applicant experience. As explained below, students and families will have ample time to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA, and do not need to rush to fill out the form immediately when the soft launch period opens.

Leading up to and during the soft launch, we uncovered some minor issues affecting users at various points in the application process, which is to be expected with the launch of a major new website. We are addressing these issues concurrently and will continue to monitor for additional issues users may encounter while we conduct the soft launch.

What the above might mean: If the soft launch is still in effect during our Fin. Aid Night, it might affect our ability to help with hands-on support that evening.
