La Pine Middle School

School Information

We are off to a great start to the 2019-2020 school year. LPMS currently is serving about 360 students and the halls are filled with a positive buzz to new beginnings. We have successfully rolled out iPads to our entire student body. During the first 10 days of school we reviewed expectations and care of iPads. Please refer to the student handbook to for expectations of iPad use.

Strategies for Success

Part of our school focus is the implementation of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). This will be our sixth year implementing AVID at LPMS. Implementing AVID for our school impacts students in two ways. First, teachers use WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading) lessons more engaging for all students. An example of writing the WICOR way is students take Focused Notes in all of their classes. Second, we offer AVID elective classes in all grades, where students get rigorous curriculum and additional strategies to be successful in school now and in the future.
