JC-AR explains the process and reasons for which students may apply to attend a school outside of their attendance area as defined by the residential address. In-District Programs, Magnet or Choice Option Schools, In-District Transfers, Attendance Area Change Requests and Athletic Participation are reviewed. March 1 deadline for elementary (grades 1-5), middle and high school. May 1 deadline for kindergarten only.
The attendance areas for middle and high schools are changing for the upcoming 2021-22 school year in order to balance enrollment and open the new Caldera High School this fall. We are asking ALL families with current 5th-11th grade students to take a moment to review these attendance areas:
Families can also use our address lookup tool to determine in which school’s boundary they reside (look up for students currently in grades K-9 and lookup for students currently in grades 10-11). NOTE: this is your neighborhood school (even if your student currently attends another school).
If families wish for their students to attend a school other than their neighborhood school, they must submit an Attendance Area Change Request form (ACR) by March 1. Thank you to those families who have already submitted a new ACR form for the 2021-22 school year, you do not need to take further action.
Students who are currently on an approved ACR for grades 6-12 must also submit a new form for this year. ACRs submitted by students currently in grades 10-11 by March 1 will be approved; all other grade levels will be approved on a space-available basis. Families will be notified by March 15 if their ACR request has been approved.
ACR approvals are subject to annual review. In general, approvals are good for the duration of time the student is approved at a specific level (elementary, middle, high school).
