Facility, Playgrounds, Fields & Property Community Use
Bend-La Pine Schools provides district facilities and grounds to educate students. These same facilities are also a community resource. Our facilities not only include our schools and buildings, but also include our playgrounds and fields. For community use some High School and Middle School sports fields can be rented through our facility use program. That usage request would then be processed by the site. If approved,the request will be finalized by our Facilities Maintenance Office. (KGA:AR Facilities Use Procedure) Once an area has an approved request, the group or entity that has the approved request will have exclusive use of the space over the general community use.
With the exception of coordinated facility use and rentals, and under the discretion of the building principal, our district elementary school playgrounds, and elementary school general use fields will be open for community use and an access gate will be unlocked for community access during non-student contact days or times. If you witness vandalism or inappropriate activity on our property, please call 911. Our district’s Maintenance Department can also be reached at 541-355-4700.
If the site experiences vandalism, or dogs (ING-AR: Animals in the Classroom or on School Property) having a negative impact on the area by not following district policy, or are not being picked up after then district administrators have the discretion and authority to close the facility to community use for a period of time.
- First offense area closed for two weeks
- Second offense area closed for two months
- Third offense area closed for six months
- Fourth offense area closed for the remainder of the school year
When using our facilities and grounds please note the following:
- Crime, vandalism, and other inappropriate activities will not be tolerated.
- School grounds and parking lots are closed from 10:00 pm until 5:00 am unless otherwise posted and may occasionally be closed for routine maintenance, construction, or holidays
- Absolutely NO CAMPING or overnight parking allowed on District property.
- All city/county ordinances will be followed as they apply to animals on district property.
- Trash cans will be available at all district sites. Please use them to dispose of your waste and help keep our facilities and grounds clean and sanitary. They are not to be used for dumping household or commercial garbage.
- Alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs and firearms/weapons are prohibited on all district property.
- Fireworks and fires of any type are prohibited. Some sites may be closed over July 4th.
- District athletic equipment is for district/school use only.
- Community use of facilities may be limited, reduced, or canceled at any time by the district for any reason in its sole discretion.
Bend La Pine School District’s number one priority is to provide safe and healthy facilities for district staff and students to enjoy. If community use adversely affects that goal, then the district will reevaluate the area or sites available for community use.
