Bend-La Pine Schools is examining supplemental learning resources that teachers may use in health education. The materials cover personal health and wellness; nutrition and physical activity; safe behavior; mental, social and emotional health; substance abuse prevention; and healthy relationships, violence prevention, and human sexuality.
This broader set of tools will fill gaps in the district’s adopted health textbooks to address emerging student and public health issues, and to assure health instruction complies with Oregon laws and rules. Teachers will not be required to use all of these curricula. These are optional instructional materials to select from when planning and delivering critical information to students regarding their health.
All of the proposed learning resources are available for review, and we welcome community feedback now through June 9. USE THIS LINK to review the supplemental health curricula and find our feedback form.
