preparation for the fall 2021 opening of a new high school in southeast
Bend, a team of volunteers and Bend-La Pine Schools' staff will begin
reviewing attendance areas for middle and high schools throughout the
district this fall. The group will review current attendance areas for
all secondary schools and will make suggested adjustments to balance
enrollments and reduce overcrowding at some area schools. The group will
host several public meetings
during the process and is
expected to make a recommendation for new attendance areas by spring
2020 to Superintendent Shay Mikalson.
This is Phase 2 for the attendance area review process, following the adoption of new attendance areas for elementary schools last spring.
Community members are invited to attend one of six upcoming public meetings to review draft attendance area map options. These open house style events will take place at the following times and locations:
Tuesday, December 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, December 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Monday, December 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
In early December, map options and a survey will be available online. Map options will also be available for review at area schools.
