New High School

• May update: Construction has begun for the off site work and street improvements. The offsite work will include building a roundabout at Knott and SE 15th Street, creating a collector road connecting Brosterhaus and SE 15th Street, constructing a local access road, and constructing multi-use paths surrounding the perimeter of the site and connecting to Alpenglow Park and SE 15th Street. Building construction is slated to begin in July after a general contractor is selected in June.
• About this project: The new high school in southeast Bend will be a two-story school which will include approximately 59 classrooms, including several Career and Technical classrooms; a 600-seat auditorium; a library as a central focal point of the school; collaboration space throughout the school; a football stadium and other sports fields and two secure main entries. The school is on track to open in the fall of 2021 and will help alleviate overcrowding at the high schools in Bend.
  

New Elementary School

• May update: Workers are beginning to pave around the school and install fencing. Iside, the polished concrete floor is almost complete. Tile is going up in bathrooms and the dry wall is almost complete. Furniture is slated for delivery in mid- to late-June.
• About this project: North Star is a two-story school that includes 24 classrooms, gym, commons area and media center, based on the designs for Silver Rail Elementary School. It is located at OB Riley Road and Cooley Road in north central Bend and will help alleviate overcrowding at elementary schools.

Marshall High School

• May update: Two new Career and Technical Education classrooms are complete at Marshall High School. The new gym area is slated to be done in June.
• About this project: The bond funds the addition of a new multi-use building with classrooms and a dedicated gym, a new secure lobby, energy efficient doors and windows and new technology updates.

Pilot Butte Middle School

• May update: Building B is currently under construction. Classrooms are being gutted and modernized. Building D, which includes the art room and a design lab space, will be under construction this summer, with completion slated this fall. Construction for Phase 1 of Pilot Butte is complete. The 50-year-old school is receiving a full interior modernization, starting with Buildings E and F. The office was relocated to create a secure lobby and the science classrooms are modernized. The music classrooms were leveled out to create a more accessible and better learning environment.
• About this project: Pilot Butte, a 50-year-old school, is receiving a full, campus-wide interior modernization. The project is being done in phases and includes new secure lobby, new roofs on several buildings, new technology and more.
  

Elk Meadow Elementary School

• May update: Construction on this project began in early May and will include updating to energy efficient LED lighting throughout the school, technology and safety updates, landscaping improvements and more.
• About this project: Elk Meadow will receive new energy efficient lighting, a modernized stage, ceiling fans in classrooms, a secure lobby, technology updates and more.

La Pine Elementary School

• May update: Work on the project is slated to take place once school is out for summer.
• About this project: The interior will be painted and lighting is being converted to more energy efficient LED lighting.
  

Other projects

Paving and accessibility improvements are underway at eight sites and fencing projects are taking place at several sites throughout the district.

Roofing projects are slated to take place at Bear Creek Elementary School, Mountain View High School, La Pine High School, Pilot Butte Middle School and Bend Senior High School this summer.

Roofing projects were completed at Buckingham Elementary School, Cascade Middle School and R.E. Jewell Elementary School.

The following projects are in design, planning or development — with construction slated to begin in 2020.

Bend Senior High School

• May update: A new master plan for Bend Senior High School has been developed - the first phase of which will be build with funds from the 2017 construction bond. Designs for phase 1 are in development. The master planning for the school started in April 2018 and includes teachers, office staff, additional staff members, the principal, a board member and other district-level administrators as well as BBT Architects.
• About this project: Some instructional spaces within Bend Senior High School, which was built in 1955, will be modernized. The first phase of the master plan for the school will take place with funds from the 2017 construction bond.
  

Juniper Elementary School

• May update: BBT Architects has been selected and the project is in the design development phase as architects work with the school to determine long range plan. Construction is slated to take place in summer of 2020.
• About this project: The school, which is one of the oldest in Bend-La Pine Schools, will receive a new multi-use instruction space and a new kitchen. The project will also include new roofs for several buildings, energy efficient windows, new technology updates, a secure lobby and more.

La Pine Middle School

• May update: Work on the scope of the remodel is beginning. Construction will take place in the summer of 2020.
• About this project: An existing science classroom will be converted to a wet science classroom; ADA improvements will be made throughout.

Amity Creek Magnet at Thompson School

• May update: BBT Architect has been selected and they are working with staff on programming. Construction will begin in the summer of 2020.
• About this project: The school is going to be modernized and receive seismic upgrades.

High Desert Middle School

• May update: The project was awarded to Stemach Design + Architecture with plans to break ground in summer of 2020.
• About this project: A new auxillary gym will be constructed at High Desert on the southeastern corner of the building.
