Thank you to the many volunteers who offer their time and talents for Bend-La Pine Schools.
During 2018-19, volunteers dedicated more than 96,000 hours of time to our schools and programs.
Our volunteers assists teachers, provide mentorship opportunities for high school students, assist with fundraising and events and so much more.
"We are humbled by the outpouring of support we receive each year from our volunteers," said Superintendent Shay Mikalson. "Our parents and community volunteers are our partners in the important work of educating our students. Thank you for all you do!"
Those interested in serving as a volunteer — or those who need to renew their background check — can sign up now. In an effort to continue to improve the safe learning environment for our students, staff, and community, Bend-La Pine Schools has updated our volunteer criminal background check system to a new vendor, Background Investigation Bureau (BIB).
Parents and guardians who do not plan to serve as a volunteer this year will not need to fill out this application.
Bend-La Pine Schools started using BIB January 1, 2018. The new system
includes an automated function that lets you know when your background
check has been received, when it has been completed and approved or
denied, and a reminder when you are one month out from needing to
reapply. Applications are good for two years from the date of approval
and the BIB system has a safeguard that will not allow individuals to
reapply for a new background check if they are currently still good
within the two year window.
Note: When completing your online application with BIB, please remember to use your full legal name as it appears on your government issued identification. This will allow us to migrate your volunteer application into the visitor/volunteer management system when you check into our schools and facilities across throughout the district.
