This week — May 7 to 11 — is National Teacher Appreciation Week and our schools are celebrating in style. Bend-La Pine Schools is home to more than 900 certified employees who serve as classroom teachers, counselors, nurses, school psychologists and more.

“Every year I am awed by our certified staff members and the work they do to serve students,” said Superintendent Shay Mikalson. “Our teachers and certified employees care deeply for our students and dedicate themselves to making sure students have the tools they need to be successful.”

Schools and parent groups celebrate this week through a variety of ways including hand-written notes, flowers, lunches and other thoughtful gestures. Bend-La Pine Schools’ Board of Directors also declared this week in honor of teacher appreciation during its April 24 board meeting.
