Meet Mountain View Principal Finalists

Community Invited to Forum March 12

Community members are invited to meet the four finalists for the Mountain View High School principal position Monday, March 12 at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Visitors will get a chance to meet the candidates, ask questions and offer feedback.

The four finalists:

Leo Baptiste is currently principal at Dufur School and special education director for Dufur School District in Oregon, a position he has held for five years. Prior to that, he served as special education director for Sherman County School District in Oregon. He also has experience as a dean and seven years of teaching experience.

Matthew Barnes is currently upper school head at the Community School and Sun Valley Ski Academy in Sun Valley, Idaho, a position he has held for three years. Prior to that he served as assistant principal and then principal at El Dorado High School in California. He also has four years of teaching experience.

Michael Hicks is currently assistant principal at Bend Senior High School, a position he has held for one year. Prior to that, he served as assistant principal at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, California, a position he held for five years. He also has four years of experience as a dean of students and four years of teaching experience.

Justin Huntley is currently principal at Sutherlin High School in Oregon, a position he has held for seven years. Prior to that he served as assistant principal at Roseburg High School for four years and principal at Perrydale middle and high schools in Amity, Oregon for three years.He also has six years of teaching experience.

The new principal will begin July 1. Current principal Katie Legace is taking on a new role and will serve as Bend-La Pine Schools Executive Director of High Schools. Legace has worked in Bend-La Pine Schools for 21 years, serving as principal at Pilot Butte Middle School for three years and as Mountain View principal for 11.
