Many Events Taking Place in Our Schools in February

Feb. 1, all day
World Read Aloud Day
Many of our schools are participating in this international day to honor reading aloud. Silver Rail and Elk Meadow elementary schools are two schools participating.

Feb. 1, 6 p.m.
Reading Under the Stars at Rosland Elementary School
Rosland is transforming its gym into a reading haven. Families are encouraged to bring sleeping bags, blankets, small stuffed animals and flashlights for a reading event. Light snacks will be provided. Families can wear pajamas and the school is going to project stars onto the ceiling. The Sunriver Observatory will also be on hand with telescopes so families can enjoy stargazing outside.

Kindness Campaign at Pacific Crest Middle School
Kindness is the focus for Pacific Crest during this campaign — Ignite Change, Spark Kindness. For details, contact the school at 541-355-7800.

Food Drive at High Lakes Elementary School
Families are encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items to donate to NeighborImpact Food Bank.

School Counselors Week
This is National School Counselors Week and our schools and staff will celebrate the work these professionals do in our schools.

International Baccalaureate Night at Bend Senior High School
Incoming freshmen are invited to learn more about IB program and academics. Open to incoming freshmen and their families.

Feb. 6, 6 p.m.
Realms High School Info Night at Bend Senior High School

TAG Information Night at Cascade Middle School
TAG identified students and their families can learn about Cascade’s Advanced Humanities program.

Incoming Sixth-Grader Information Night at Pilot Butte Middle School
Incoming sixth-graders and their families are invited to learn more about the programs and opportunities at Pilot Butte.

Feb. 9
Mars Launch at Highland Magnet at Kenwood School
Once every two years, the entire school at Highland participates in a school-wide storyline. This year the school is taking a trip — to Mars! The students will inhabit five different locations on the planet (canyons, lava tube caves, polar region, craters and mountainside.) The “launch” party is Feb. 9 and the storyline will continue for weeks and will include multi-age science workshops and much more.

Central Oregon Scholastic Arts Awards Ceremony
Community members are invited to celebrate talented student artists during this award ceremony at Central Oregon Community College’s Pinckney Auditorium. More than 400 works of art will be on display from student-artists throughout the region, included 245 from Bend-La Pine Schools students. All of the art on display earned an award through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The work will be on display during gallery hours Feb. 10 to Feb. 28. Open to the public.

Parents are invited to Cascade to talk school administrators to learn about what’s happening at the school.

Support Staff Job Fair
Bend-La Pine Schools is currently hiring for a wide range of classified staff positions that offer competitive wages, excellent benefits and a variety of working hours. Explore the wide range of career opportunities during an interactive job fair. Attendance Area Change Requests Due
Families living within Bend-La Pine Schools’ attendance areas may request to have their students attend any other neighborhood school that has space available by filling out an Attendance Area Change Request form by March 1.
