November Filled With Fun Events at Our Schools

November 2
Principal for the Day
In partnership with the Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools, 19 of our schools are hosting local business and community leaders. These individuals will shadow our principals in order to learn more about our schools and students.

November 2-4
“Little Shop of Horrors” at Bend Senior High School
The music and theater programs at Bend Senior High School are teaming up to put on four performances of the fun musical “Little Shop of Horrors.” The story follows Seymour, an assistant florist who comes to care for a man-eating plant. Show times are Nov. 2-3 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 4 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.

November 3, 3 p.m.
Fall Festival at High Desert Middle School
The school will host a fall festival for students and families.

November 3, 5:30 p.m.
Multicultural Harvest Night at High Lakes Elementary School
High Lakes Parent Teacher Organization will host a harvest festival for families.

November 8, 1:20 p.m.
Veterans’ Day Assembly at High Lakes Elementary School
High Lakes celebrates veterans during this assembly.

November 9, 9 a.m.
Veterans’ Day Breakfast at Three Rivers School
Local veterans are invited to attend a celebration breakfast at Three Rivers School. RSVPs requested 541-355-3000.

November 9, 10 a.m.
Veterans’ Day Assembly at Summit High School
Summit will host a Veterans’ Day Assembly featuring four stories from four different wars during the event: a "Rosie the Riveter" from WWII, a Korean War and Vietnam War vet, and an army combat nurse who served during Iraq/Afghanistan. All of these honorees either are from the Bend area or live here now.

November 9, 11 a.m.
Veterans’ Day Assembly at Bend Senior High School
Bend Senior High School will host an assembly to honor veterans.

November 9, lunch
Honorary Veterans’ Lunch at Elementary Schools
All elementary schools will host an Honorary Veterans’ Lunch to celebrate those who have served in the armed forces. Veterans and those active in the military who are related to students or staff members are invited to eat lunch for free during this special event

November 9, 5:30 p.m.
Internet Safety Training at Juniper Elementary School
Juniper’s Parent Teacher Organization is sponsoring an internet safety training event for parents. KIDS Center staff will provide the training and the event will include dinner and child care.

November 9, 7 p.m.
Jazz Night Out at Mountain View High School
Musical performance from Mountain View students. Tickets cost $10. Open to the public.

November 10
No School — Veterans Day

November 13-17
Teacher Appreciation Week at Mountain View High School
Mountain View will celebrate teachers throughout the week.

November 16
Kindergarten Immunization Exclusion Day
All kindergarteners must be up-to-date on immunization requirements. Learn more:https://www.bend.k12.or.us/district/parents/health-immunizations

November 16
College Day
Students and staff members throughout our schools will don apparel representing their favorite college, university or trade school. Staff will wear school colors and talk with students about post-graduation opportunities.

November 20-24
No School – Thanksgiving Break

November 28, 9 a.m.
Internet Safety PTO Meeting at High Lakes Elementary School
Internet safety is the topic of discussion at this Parent Teacher Organization meeting at High Lakes.

December 1-3
“A Modern Christmas Carol” at Mountain View High School
Mountain View will put on “A Modern Christmas Carol” Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.

• Two Oregon Civic Scholars: Want to learn more about how civics is taught in our schools? Two of our teachers were recently named Civic Scholars for Oregon – Erica Dietz from Cascade Middle School and Heather Marr from Pacific Crest Middle School. (Photos available upon request.)

Future Centers Help Students with College: October means many seniors are gearing up for college applications and our schools are offering support. Our high schools are offering workshops and assistance for students on everything from how to make the most out of a college fair, to how to apply for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
