Article Date: Nov 09, 2016

Press Release:

Get ready to cheer: College Day is almost here!On Thursday, November 17, thousands of students and staff members in Bend-La Pine Schools will sport college colors to celebrate education beyond high school during our annual College Day. Prepare to see playgrounds, hallways and classrooms bursting with school spirit as students and staff represent their favorite college, university, trade school or other institute of post-secondary education.

“We look forward to this event every year, as it is an engaging way for staff members to share their passion for higher education,” said Superintendent Shay MIkalson. “We believe it is never too early for students to begin thinking about education beyond high school and this annual celebration is a really fun way to do that.”

All staff members in Bend-La Pine Schools are encouraged to wear gear or the school colors from their alma mater, favorite school or the college their children attend — including the University of Oregon, Oregon State, Harvard, Oregon Institute of Technology, Stanford, Central Oregon Community College and so many more.

Our Nutrition Services is also hosting a coloring contest for students in conjunction with College Day. Visitors to our elementary school cafeterias will see students’ work decorating the walls. At least two students per grade at each elementary school will win a Nutrition Services apron.
