Local SAT Scores Top State Average

Bend-La Pine Schools Students Well Above National Average

Bend-La Pine Schools students outpaced their peers in the state and nation on the SAT exam, according to results released today by the College Board. Local students scored an average of 548 in critical reading, 545 in mathematics and 521 in writing.

Bend-La Pine Schools students bested national averages by 54 points in critical reading, 37 points in math and 39 points in writing (see chart). The scores are also higher than the state averages by 28 points in reading, 30 points in math and 26 points in writing.

“We congratulate our students and staff for these results, which are well above state and national averages,” said Superintendent Shay Mikalson. “We want to continue to ensure that every student is prepared and ready to continue education after graduation.”

The SAT is one of many measures Bend-La Pine Schools uses to assess academic growth. The district also administers the ACT exam to juniors every year.
