Teachers Pick Top Summer Learning Resources

Article Date: Aug 01, 2016

Summertime means a break from school, but it shouldn't mean a break from learning. We encourage students and families to stay engaged with learning over the course of the summer. Students who don't participate in educational activities over the summer can experience summer learning loss, sometimes called the summer slide. But that doesn't mean learning over the summer has to look like school.

We hope all our families can find fun ways to keep kids engaged and thinking this summer.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Some of our teachers put together helpful resources for families to use over the summer. Check out our math and reading materials.
  • Read together.
  • Visit a local library.
  • Ask questions of your child.
  • Cook together — ask your child to read the recipe and perform the measuring.

We hope all of our families have an active, engaging summer. We are excited to see you all back at school in September.
