Families with incoming kindergarteners for the 2016-17 school year are invited to attend kindergarten round-up events at local schools April 20. Parents will be able to ask questions, meet teachers and administrators, tour the school and register students. Specific timing and events vary by school, so parents are encouraged to contact their student’s neighborhood school for details.
“We encourage families with children entering kindergarten to attend these fun, interactive events to learn about our schools and register students for school,” said Gary Timms, Executive Director of Elementary Programs for Bend-La Pine Schools. “The events also help us from a planning standpoint, to understand our enrollment and make plans for teachers, classroom space and materials.”
Students are eligible for kindergarten if they are age 5 prior to Sept. 1, 2016. To register, parents or guardians should bring a child’s birth certificate or other legal proof of age, proof of address and a record of immunizations.
After April 20, families can register students at any time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. during any school day.
