Five Students Earn Top Art Distinction

Congratulations to five local Bend-La Pine Schools students, who earned the National Silver Medal through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!

Nearly 340,000 pieces of art and writing were submitted during the 2019 awards and earning a silver medal places these students within the top 1 percent nationally!

Congratulations to:

  • Two Silver Medals for Joan Song, senior at Summit High School, for her poems "In Good Hands" and "12 Hours in a Salem Motel"
  • Silver Medal: Jevan LaMarche, junior at Summit High School, for long exposure photography "Nightly"
  • Silver Medal: Kaylee Carlton, sophomore at Summit High School for her mixed media piece "Beauty Before Blindfolds"
  • Silver Medal: Lauren Neumann, sophomore at Mountain View Senior High School for her photography "Steer Wrangler"
  • Silver Medal: Dakota Callicott, senior at Bend Senior High School for Film & Animation "A Lesser You"
