Bend-La Pine Schools' Social Sciences program requires 3 full credits for graduation. The purpose of these courses is to give high school students a full understanding of the United States and the world through the analysis of local, state, national and world history, civics, government, economics, and geography. Bend-La Pine Schools is committed to implementing the adopted state standards for the social sciences.
The required High School courses are Modern World History (1 credit), United States History (1 credit) and Government (1 credit). Click on the text books below to learn more about each course.
Teacher teams from across the district have come together to prioritize the current adopted social science standards for each required course. While these standards are not exhaustive, all students will have instruction on each of these priority standards for each course. In the AP version of these courses, the additional standards and textbooks may be required.
