Principal’s Message

Mountaineer Families,

Welcome back! Please see important points to talk to your student(s) about in regards to iPads and showing up to class prepared and ready to learn.

Parents and Guardians - Help Us Help You!

Our students aren't taking care of their iPads correctly and most recently we have seen damage that could have been avoided. We have two areas we'd like your support in setting our expectations for iPads.

  1. All iPads should be placed in lockers when going to lunch. We are seeing iPads thrown, left, dropped, tossed, hurled during lunch time.
  2. When attending PE class, in the gym, teachers prefer iPads be put in lockers.

These two locations are where most iPad damage is happening and we think that with some encouragement on your end, we can reduce the cost of replacing those iPads which are being damaged.

Need to purchase an iPad cover, replacements can be purchased at CMS for $18 in the main office with Destiny Wilder.

Students Struggling to Show Up to Class Prepared - Asks from teachers!

We are noticing that a majority of students are struggling to come to class prepared with necessary handouts and/or supplies. Please check in with your student to see if they have a binder or system of organization.

Recently, Cascade purchased binders, pencils, and pencil pouches for students with the intent of having students make less trips to their locker and be adequately prepared for class. More than half of the students are not using a binder and do not have a system of organization. Students frequently have to leave class once the bell rings to get needed supplies resulting in unexcused tardies and lost instruction time. Please speak to your student about this to gain their perspective and possibly encourage them to use a binder to be successful academically in each of their classes this year.

This is a habit that we want all students to have mastered before they leave for high school.

Thank you,

CMS Staff
