School to Career Credit


Students can earn elective credit in non-traditional ways. To participate in any of these class please contact your counselor

Level 1 (.5 elective credit)

  1. You need to document 144 hours of work.
  2. Turn in your pay stubs as documentation, to the canvas course.
  3. Complete the Level 1 canvas course
  4. You have 1 month to complete the course
  5. Complete the Career Related Learning Standard Evaluation with your employer.

Level 2 (.5 elective credit)

  1. You need to document 144 hours of work.
  2. Turn in your pay stubs as documentation, to the canvas course.
  3. Complete the Level 2 canvas course
  4. You have 1 month to complete the course
  5. Complete the Career Related Learning Standard Evaluation with your employer.

Volunteer Work (.5 elective credit)

  1. Your volunteer opportunity must meet the following criteria set by BOLI:

Volunteer work must meet all of the following criteria set by the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI): 1) the work must be for public service, religious or humanitarian purpose, and 2) at the volunteer’s own initiative, and 3) without any expectation of pay, and 4) if the volunteer is an employee for other purposes, the volunteer duties may not be the same as his/her regular work duties, and the work must be performed outside the employee’s normal work hours.

  1. Complete Weekly Production Reports, which provide verification of work hours (72 hour requirement) and a journal of work duties and activities.
  2. Complete the Volunteer Reflection Paper.
  3. After working at least 65 hours complete the Career Related Learning Standards Evaluation with your employer.
  4. Make sure your manager signs and dates the form.
  5. You must score at least a (2); which means you meet the evaluation standard to receive credit.

Internship (.5 elective credit)

  1. Complete Weekly Production Reports, which provide verification of work hours (72 hour requirement) and a journal of work duties and activities.
  2. Complete the Internship Training Plan.
  3. Complete the Internship Term Paper.
  4. After working at least 65 hours complete the Career Related Learning Standards Evaluation with your employer.
  5. Make sure your manager signs and dates the form.
  6. You must score at least a (2); which means you meet the evaluation standard to receive credit. 5. To receive 1.0 credit you will need 130 hours and must complete one project relevant to the job you’re doing (e.g. a videotape if you work for a TV studio, estimates for a body shop, newspaper articles for a writing job, daily journals, research an aspect of the industry you work in, etc).
