Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremony Information

Dear Senior Parents:

Class of 2022 Graduation Celebration

Principled. Positive. Classy.

Last year was our first graduation on BSH grounds in 40 years; we’re so excited to recreate the magic for the Class of 2022! This final communication highlights important details for our graduates as well as the schedule of events on graduation day. Included are important reminders of dress, behavior and spectator considerations so that we can have a seamless and safe celebration.

IMPORTANT TIME/LOCATION DETAILS FOR GRADUATES

  • Friday, June 10th – Senior Assembly Day

8:00am – Cap & Gowns delivered in the Mini Gym

8:30am – Final Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal (Seniors not present will not walk!).

11:00am – Mandatory Senior Assembly

1:00pm – Senior BBQ

  • Saturday, June 11th at 8:45am – All graduates should work to be in the First Presbyterian Church parking lot, just off 9th Street, by no later than 8:45am.

Grads should then proceed directly to the Mini Gym (robe, cords and cap in hand) and get in their designated line, no later than 9am. Seniors are allowed to have their cell phones and sunglasses, but nothing else (no bags, no water containers/hydroflasks, etc.). Importantly, we will not have a place or space for items, like keys, to be dropped. Pockets and/or lanyards have worked well for our grads in the past.

GRADUATION DAY – SATURDAY, JUNE 11th!

In the event of lightning or high AQI levels, we will need to move our ceremony indoors. Unfortunately, due to capacity issues, we would need to limit spectators to just 4 per graduate. Each graduate received their 4 just-in-case tickets at their rehearsal today. This is one of those “game-day” decisions; we will send out communication should we need to pivot indoors.

  • 8:45am -- Seniors arrive; Park at First Presbyterian Church
  • 9:00am -- Stadium gates will open for families/spectators (parking available in school parking lot and side streets)
  • 10:00am -- Let the celebration begin!!!

SPECTATOR CONSIDERATIONS

  • Those family and interested community members who are unable to attend our celebration in person, can watch our ceremony live via our NFHS network, by signing up for a free account and clicking the "watch livestream" link during the designated time.
  • Graduating Seniors will be seated on the football field. BSH teachers and staff will be seated alongside the graduates. There will be some room for spectators to sit in the at-home stands, with designated spaces available for ADA needs. Remaining spectators will sit outdoor concert-style on the football field (on either side of students) and can bring low-profile outdoor chairs and/or blankets to sit on. Dogs are not allowed unless they are registered service animals.
  • Spectators can bring water containers but no other refreshment containers or coolers will be allowed in the stadium.
  • As we do at every graduation in Bend La Pine, we restrict the use of air horns or other noise makers during the ceremony. We want every graduate's name to be heard without disruption or interruption.

DRESS CONSIDERATIONS

  • We’ve discussed how Bend High graduations are classy, with all graduates in a blue gown and an undecorated, tasseled cap and with appropriate clothes and shoes for the occasion. We also want to remind all Seniors to plan on wearing comfortable, flat-soled shoes due to our outdoor ceremony and the walking that will be required (the football field is not kind to pointy heels!). Importantly, other than sashes and cords that have been awarded to our graduates, we will not allow any bling or accessories other than native, tribal or other traditional regalia from families of origin.

BEHAVIOR CONSIDERATIONS

  • With just 1 and 1/2 days of school left in their high school careers, we stress the importance of our seniors making smart choices as it relates to social gatherings AND senior pranks. We do not want to be put in position to tell a senior they cannot walk because of a poor decision. Be smart. Stay safe. And keep yourself healthy!

It’s hard to believe we’ll be graduating the Class of 2022 on Saturday. We look forward to celebrating with you!

With much respect and admiration,

Christopher J. Reese, Principal

Principal
