Silver Rail Elementary School
Welcome to Kindergarten!
We are so excited to start your child’s educational journey with you. Registering for kindergarten is the first step. The next step is to bring your child in to school for an orientation and to be assessed for class placement.
The assessment is important because we will be using the information to determine placement into the classes, as we would like to have well-balanced classrooms. During the time your child is here for assessment, he/she will get to meet all the kindergarten teachers, be assessed, have a snack, do some fun activities, play on the playground and learn all about school. You will be responsible for bringing your child to the school as well as picking him/her up when we are through. Also, if you have not brought in immunization records or verification of birth yet, please bring that in at this time as well.
While your child is being assessed, you will get to meet with me, where I can answer any questions and ease any concerns that parents of kindergarteners may have. I will also have some information for you to fill out regarding your child and how we can best serve him/her here at Silver Rail. I will also talk about opportunities and ways that you can be involved here at school.Afterwards, you are free to go and come back by the ending time to pick up your child.
You will be receiving a letter letting you know what time slot has been assigned to your child.
Please call the school after August 15th at 541-355-2900 to confirm that you will be coming. If you have a conflict, please let us know as soon as possible and we try to make alternate arrangements for your child to be assessed.
The first day of school for all kindergarteners is different, as half will be coming on Wed., September 7th, the other half will be coming on Thur., September 8th, and everyone will come on Friday, September 9th. When you come to our Open House on Thursday, Sept 1st from 5:30-7, you will get to find out who your child’s teacher will be.
We look forward to meeting your child soon and working together with you to make this a wonderful kindergarten year.
