Juniper Elementary School

Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program

Welcome to the Juniper 4th and 5th Grade Self-Contained TAG

Meet the TAG Team:

4th Grade Teacher - Ms. Lentz

5th Grade Teacher - Mr. Heimerdinger

TAG Coordinator - Ms. Scott, Asst. Principal

In the Bend-La Pine Schools' self-contained talented and gifted (TAG) classes, acceleration and appropriate level of instruction are key to successful student growth for all students. Additionally, building their confidence as students and scholars are important for enhancing student achievement and positive self-esteem. The students in the 4th and 5th grade self-contained classes are highly capable all day, every day. Thus, all instruction is modified and differentiated to meet their rate and level of learning needs. Student’s social-emotional needs are enhanced through their new peer group. Many students develop life-long friendships with others who share their interests and hobbies.

Our TAG program is housed in the same building as our other 4th and 5th grade classrooms, where students do all the same activities. For example, recess and lunch are scheduled at the same time as the other 4th and 5th grade classes. It is important that all students experience social interactions with all students at their grade levels and with peers. Friendships don’t just exist in the self-contained TAG classrooms, but are school wide, and we want to make sure those opportunities exist.

Our TAG Informational Night usually takes place in late May or early June. This is an opportunity to meet the teachers, hear about the program and ask a lot of questions! Our goal is to provide you with enough information to make a decision that is right for your child and your family. Check back here in for more information about TAG night.
