Principal's Letter

Dear Highland Families,

I hope you were able to see or hear about our surprise flash mob this morning to kick off our student appreciation day - nothing brings more laughs than adults behaving like children! A huge shout out to all our staff for creating such a fun experience for our students today. Hearing students say, “BEST DAY EVER!!” never gets old. Thank you to our Highland PTO for supporting us with the snacks and goodies to brighten up our “Day at the Beach”.

Thank you all very much for your understanding with the sudden change to our arrival and dismissal. You handled it beautifully, and we are incredibly appreciative.

The last week is here. Although these last days are fun, there is a lot of distraction and quite a bit of change to routines which can be stressful for students so take a few extra moments to check in with them each day.

I am looking forward to the final week of fun for Highland Pipers.

Sincerely,

Brian Kissell

Field Day!

Highland field day returns! Please see email from your teacher for more information. We NEED volunteers to make this a successful event and it is a fun opportunity to get involved in the end of year celebrations! Sign up links for volunteers will be provided by your teacher. Thank you in advance for signing up to help! ** all volunteers and spectators NEED to check in at front office before going to harmon park.

Lost and Found

Please take a moment at pick up and drop off to have your student look at the lost and found on the blacktop! All unclaimed items after the end of the day on Thursday will be donated.

From the Library

Get ready for fun at every turn because Summer with the Library is back! Starting June 1, readers and adventurers of all ages can sign up for the free Summer with the Library program and open the door to a whole season of possibilities.

Two ways to Sign up:

  • Sign up via the Beanstack website (dpls.beanstack.org/reader365), or download the Beanstack app from your app store, to track reading and activities.
  • Pick up a paper reading and activity log, available at all Deschutes Public Library locations.

Kids and teens get a book and adults get a reusable tote just for signing up. Complete a reading and activity log and get another prize—including unique bookmarks—and be entered for a chance at great grand prizes, including puppets, books, and STEM kits for kids, and gift cards for teens and adults.

Summer is even better with friends! This summer the library and other community organizations are teaming up to bring fun and learning to a neighborhood near you. Check out Library on the Go locations below to find out where we’ll be sharing free books, fun games, prizes, and more.
