Principal’s Letter

Dear Highland Families,

Thank you everyone for your caution and patience in the morning for these past few days with such a cold snap. The morning drop off is a bit more difficult with the cold and icy roads, so I appreciate everyone slowing down and taking their time. These cold temperatures unfortunately confined our students inside for recess for most of the week. Indoor recess is never our first choice, but sometimes it's necessary. I want to thank all our students and staff for adapting. It's really nice when everyone pulls together to make the best of the situation.

YEARBOOKS!

Hello Pipers! It seems early to think about yearbooks but they are ready for order! To order click here and use the Highland code of :1016243010261892

The new yearbook company we are using will plant a tree for every book ordered and offer free customized pages that you can design for your child's personalized yearbook. Books will be delivered at the end of the year. We will not have extras to buy from the office this year so be sure to order yours today!

Lottery Information-

If your student is currently enrolled at Highland and you live within the Bend LaPine School Boundary (CLICK), you do not need to do anything to remain at Highland for the 2022-2023 school year.

All Current 5th Graders:

If you are interested in a Choice Option School for middle school, it is time to submit a lottery application (CLICK).

Parents wishing to send their student to a neighborhood school (not choice option) in an attendance area different from their neighborhood school, must fill out an Attendance Area Change Request (CLICK) form by March 1. CLICK to view boundary maps.

All Incoming 2022-2023 Kindergarten Siblings:

Please fill out an online lottery application TODAY to ensure your spot at Highland Elementary School. Siblings have first priority in the lottery process, but only if an online application form is submitted. CLICK to submit your application today.

All Students on Highland’s Current Wait List:

Please fill out an online lottery application TODAY to remain on the Highland Wait List for the 2022-2023 school year. Students on the Highland Wait List must fill out an application EVERY YEAR to remain on the waitlist. CLICK to submit your application today.

Changes to the Lottery this year:

• Twins submit only one application, not one each. Put both kids' names down on a single application
• You MUST be currently living at the address you are using on the application or your application will be disqualified
• You can apply to more than one choice school
