Principal Letter

Dear Highland Families;

I hope you are doing well on this beautiful afternoon. It’s going to be more and more difficult for your children (and you) to stay engaged with distance learning and we totally understand. Please do your best to encourage your children to finish strong and stay with us day by day. Every little bit of connection we can maintain in these next few weeks will be important in the fall as this will feel like an incredibly long summer.

Sincerely,

Brian Kissell

Every year, Bend-La Pine Schools creates and mails home a Family Handbook and Calendar which shares key dates and addresses frequently asked questions for families. For the 2020-21 calendar, we are inviting current Bend-La Pine Schools students to submit artwork and photographs to be featured and highlighted throughout the glossy publication.

The theme for this year’s calendar is #BLSproud. What makes you proud to be part of your school or your school district? Share a piece of artwork or a photograph that conveys that sentiment.

Deadline: May 25, 2020

Please CLICK for details and to submit artwork.

Mileage Club:

Hello Highland Families-

Hope this finds you well. We wanted to address the opportunity for your kids who participated in Highland Mileage Club that were close to, or wanted to finish, their Highland Marathon, to still be able to still earn their Highland Mileage Club Marathon t-shirt by the end of the school year (approximately 26 miles).

This would require you to find a distance that would equal 1 mile and be a safe space for your student to run with adult supervision, and be on the honor system.

CLICK for a great worksheet from Coach Clements to help facilitate keeping good track of the Mileage your student may run to achieve this.

If your student was an avid Mileage Club participant and needs to know how much farther they have to run to reach that Marathon you can email us and we can look at their Mileage Club cards from the fall and let you know. Please use the Email below and tell us your child's name, grade & teacher:

Email: [email protected]

In addition when your student completes that 26th mile please email and let us know what size children shirt they wear.

We so miss seeing the enthusiasm, energy and commitment of the kids and the wonderful volunteers at Highland Mileage Club, but hope that many of your kids are excited to get out and run to finish their Marathon and earn that shirt. For the students that earn the shirt we would plan to have them ready for the kids at "end of school pick-up" with all their materials.

Best Regards,

Your Mileage Club Parents

Katie Young, Rebecca Lynch & Lindsey Askew
