Principal's Letter
Dear Highland Families,
Thank you for being extra safe on the roads this afternoon. The rain and the extra vehicles make it more challenging so your patience and care is appreciated.
You will notice the back gates between the gym and main building are now closed, except for deliveries. Now that we don’t have as many subcontractors coming on campus to complete minor projects for the gym and grounds, we will be keeping these gates closed. Once again, I just want to remind everyone this is done to encourage all pedestrian and bicyclist traffic to use the Nashville or Harmon gates. The intent is to increase safety for all students. Prior to the school hours, parents can drop their children at Kids, Inc. by the west door using the parking spaces in the lot, however after 8:30 there should be no parent/student traffic through the parking lot.
I also want to acknowledge how well we are doing as a whole community to get all our students to class on time each day. With only a few exceptions, all our gates will be locking at 9:00 a.m. when classes start. If you are arriving after that time, please be sure to take your students through the front office to be sure they are accounted for in our attendance. Good attendance and punctuality are two of the most important “skills” for just about any part of a career, so establishing routines that support being on-time and present this early in life cannot be stressed enough. Keep up the great work.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Brian Kissell
