"A Place to Learn, A Place to Grow!"
Welcome to R.E. Jewell Elementary School! My name is Bruce Reynolds. I have been the Principal at Jewell for the past six years. Prior to coming to Jewell I was the Assistant Principal at Elk Meadow Elementary School in Bend, and before that was a classroom teacher for 22 years. I believe that I have the best job in town, and I look forward to coming to Jewell each day.
R.E. Jewell Elementary School opened its doors for the first time in the fall of 1974, and has been serving students and families in the Bend-La Pine School district for 35 years. Jewell has undergone major upgrades and improvements in the past two years thanks to the passage of the Bend-La Pine 2006 bond levy. Through the years Jewell has maintained strong ties with our community, families, and students.
Our school goals are:
-
To create a warm, caring learning environment.
-
To further each child's academic skills and positive self-esteem.
-
To kindle a love of learning by nurturing the uniqueness of each child.
To reach these goals, the staff at R.E. Jewell has adopted high academic expectations and has developed programs and activities to make sure each child achieves academically and socially at school. Through research, study, and best practice, our staff has adopted scientifically researched programs to help children succeed. Our staff is second to none! I believe we are providing the best possible education for our students!
Our door is always open! Please call us if we can be of service to you!

Jewell Receives $275,000.00 Grant!
Jewell fourth grade teachers, in collaboration with district level instructional staff, have been awarded $275,000.00 in the 21st Century Classroom grant program!
This is a huge honor for our school, and clearly recognizes
our high achievement levels, restructured schedules and programs, and
recognizes our staff and building for being outstanding!
This highly competitive grant will provide fourth grade
classrooms with computers, Smart Boards, electronic tablets, software, and
extensive training and collaboration opportunities with other grant
recipients. The grant covers a
two-year period of time.
The goal of the grant is to continue our increase in student
academic performance, with a focus on writing skills. Although our grant focuses on fourth grade classrooms,
effects of the program will be felt in all classrooms. Through building level sharing and
collaboration, all classrooms will benefit.
We will update you on our progress and grant activities in
the coming months!
