Welcome to Pilot Butte Middle School in beautiful Bend, Oregon! We are very excited to be authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Pilot Butte offers an internationally-recognized curriculum that encourages students to make connections to the real world, and to become critical and reflective thinkers. The middle years component of the IB is called the Middle Years Programme(MYP). All students are a part of this rigorous programme and will benefit from the balanced, challenging, and comprehensive curriculum by taking eight subjects including: World Language (French and Spanish), Design (problem solving using technology as a tool) and the Arts (performing and visual arts) classes. Click here for more information on MYP key topics, course offerings, school policies, community service as action, and more.
At Pilot Butte, our vision is to be recognized as a community of academic excellence, leadership, and character as we embrace diversity, and inspire global thinking. We will do whatever it takes to help our 700 outstanding students excel with our 70 talented staff members. Our mascot is the "Giants" and our school colors are green and white.
We have a rich history that even includes a replica log cabin of Bend's first classroom. Our school was built in 1967 with a layout similiar to a college campus, in a park-like setting, nestled at the base of Pilot Butte. Over time we have transformed our campus to include state-of-the-art technology and 21st century design spaces.
I encourage you to explore all of the informative links on this web page, and to contact us with additional questions. Again, welcome to Pilot Butte.
