My name is Gary DeFrang and I am the principal at High Desert Middle School. This will be my seventh year as the principal at HDMS, and I am looking forward to another great year of learning for our students in the land of the Diamondbacks!
This marks my seventeenth year in education. Prior to coming to HDMS, I served administratively as an Assistant Principal at Mountain View High School, after completing three years as an Assistant Principal at Fremont Middle School in Roseburg. As an educator, I taught middle school in the Tigard-Tualatin School District for seven years and coached high school swimming and water-polo.
At HDMS it is our mission to, "Empower our school community to thrive educationally and emotionally." With this in mind it is our goal that all students in our school reach high academic standards, grow socially and emotionally, and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities during their middle school years.
Thank you for sharing your children with us, and I look forward to working with you this school year.
Sincerely,
Gary DeFrang
