Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
The applications for free and reduced lunch are now available. Applications can be picked up at the main office or can be completed online. Click here to access the form online. A new application must be completed each year.
New Volunteer Approval Process
Bend-La Pine Schools has a new process for school volunteer background checks this year. The new form is online, and approvals are often completed within 24-48 hours. Everyone needs to complete the form in this new process, even if you submitted an application last year. To access this form, click here
Transportation Issues or Questions
If you have any questions about bus routes, bus incidents, or if your child does not arrive at home as expected, please call our transportation department at 541-355-5700. In the event your child does not arrive at home on the bus, please try to remain calm, stay at home, and call transportation. They can quickly communicate with all buses to find "misplaced" children. If a child is not on a bus, call our school office and we will begin checking with teachers and any friends of your child. By staying at home, you will be there to greet your child instead of being in route to the school or out looking for your child. We will expect children to follow regular procedures for going home, unless we get a written note or a telephone call from parents.

Wellness Policy
The Bend-La Pine School District strives to promote district and community-based activities that foster healthy eating and create environments that promote physical activity. Our district wellness policy encourages our school and families to provide healthy food choices in situations where food is served. To honor this policy, and to promote healthy eating habits and wellness, we will be focusing on providing healthy choices for students whenever food or snacks are served. At all class parties, teachers will work with families to provide a variety of foods that will include healthy choices. If you have any questions, please contact us. It is with great excitement that I welcome each of you to the 2012-2013 school year. The entire staff and I look forward to working with you and your child this year and are dedicated to providing each Bear Creek student with an excellent education.
As educators in the 21st century, we are charged with educating students to be successful in a diverse and interconnected world. The staff at Bear Creek have set our expectations high and we will work hard to engage your child in a learning process that is rich with a variety of experiences that will prepare them to move forward on their path of life-long learning.
We encourage our families and the community to take an active role in helping us to motivate the students at Bear Creek to achieve academic excellence. With the support of each of you, along with our active and involved P.T.O., we feel strongly that we can accomplish the goals we have set out to achieve:
-
Attaining high academic achievement in the core areas of reading, writing, and math.
-
Ensuring that every student attends school on time, every day.
-
Creating an environment where students accept responsibility for their actions and hold themselves to high standards.
-
Maintaining our open door policy, in which parents feel welcome and believe that they are an integral part of the learning process.
Bear Creek is a safe, neighborhood school where your child's life will be enriched with cultural and memorable experiences. Student achievement is our top priority and I am honored to be the principal here. We look forward to working together to create the best education possible for your child.
Educationally Yours,
Matt Montoya
