The first requirement in becoming a member of Cascade's Chapter of the National Junior Honors Society is maintaining a 3.5 cumulative G.P.A. In addition to this, students must prove they are above average in each of the following areas: Leadership: As a candidate, they must demonstate positive leadership in the classroom, in the lunchroom, in the halls, in activities in school and in the community. Citizenship: Activities beyond the classroom help define a well-rounded individual. Service Activities: Giving back to the community is a major life skill in society. Generally speaking, service activities are done for or on behalf of others outside of their family. Twelve hours of community service hours are required. Character: Character is a very important aspect of NJHS. The candidates should be honest, fair, responsible, courteous, tolerant, cooperative, and trustworthy. They must strive to make judgments that are free from hearsay and rumors. They also must provide three references to support their good character.
