Students coming to Cascade as 6th graders from one of the Bend elementary schools are generally placed into one of two levels, 6th grade math or 7th grade math. To enter 7th grade math a student must pass a challenge exam.  6th graders who are new to the district and other incoming students will be placed at the appropriate grade level unless they pass a challenge test.
