R.E. Jewell Elementary School has a current enrollment of 575 students.  Additionally, there are 34 certified staff members (teachers/specialists), 26 classified employees (educational assistants, office staff, custodial, cafeteria), 1 school counselor, and 2 administrators. 

Jewell is an award winning, high performing school, and is recognized for its student achievement and performance.  Various educational programs and techniques are used to help students succeed and make significant educational achievement. Our mission is to create "a place to learn, and a place to grow" for our students. Every day our passionate, professional staff strives to create a warm, caring learning environment, to further each child's academic skills and positive self-esteem, and to kindle a love of learning by nurturing the uniqueness of each child.

Our student population is diversified ethnically with 14.6% of the population being ELL students.  10.6% of students are identified as being served in Special Education.  We are a school-wide Title I program.  Having this model allows us to help all students in core academic areas.  Our current free and reduced lunch count is 51%.

We have a very active Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA).  In addition to giving input on various issues, the PTA provides our school with educational materials and equipment, various cultural events, Artists in Residence, field trips, family fun nights, and much more.  Our SMART Program (Start Making a Reader Today) has 75 volunteers that help students twice a week, and we have an additional group of 300 dedicated volunteers that help in classrooms and with school programs.  Parent and community involvement and participation is welcomed at Jewell!

Our business partnerships in the community provide various kinds of support to our school.  They are valued members of our school community.

Our school Site Council meets throughout the year to give input on school issues, programs, grants, staff development, and budget.  They are important partners in the daily operation of our school.
