Dear Parents:

Welcome to High Lakes Elementary School!

It is my honor to be the principal of High Lakes Elementary School.  This year begins my tenth year at High Lakes.  I have had the distinct pleasure of being the principal for the past four years.  Previous to that, I was the VP for five years and a 4^th grade classroom teacher.  I also have eleven years experience as an intermediate teacher in several different school districts. 

At one point in my career I left the field of education and was in computer sales for over a decade.  I believe my successful experience in the business world has given me a unique perspective for the administrative position that I now hold.  I serendipitously came back to the field of education over fifteen years ago and I know without a doubt that I am right where I am supposed to be and doing exactly what I am meant to be doing in life.  I feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity to be the leader of this fabulous school and working in such a progressive school district.

High Lakes has a long history of being rated an "exceptional/outstanding" school by the Oregon Department of Education.  In the past 8 out of 9 years we have received that distinction for our academic rigor.  High Lakes has an exceptional staff that is dedicated to all children being successful and developing a life long love for learning. Through retirements and attrition we had added 5 new staff members this year. The caliber of our new teachers is quite phenominal.  Living in Bend Oregon always provides us with an amazing candidate pool.

In addition, our parent community is committed to being an active part of their children's education and provide an extraordinary amount of volunteer hours on behalf of all children at High Lakes.  We also have a wonderful PTA who provide many enriching activities throughout the school year.
