June, 2012:  School Bus Rodeo

The Bend-La Pine Schools Bus Rodeo team took home several awards at the Oregon School Bus Safety Exercises, including:  Best Overall, 2nd place in Mini Bus, 4th place in Transit and 4th place in the Team category.  Congratulations! 



May, 2012:  Summit Coaches of the Year

Dave Turnbull, Track Coach, was named the National Girls Track Coach of 2012 by the NHSCA (National High School Coaches Association). Dave was also named Coach of the Year by the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association.  The Summit girls track has won six consecutive state titles.  Congratulations!

May, 2012:  Rotary Club of Greater Bend - Excellence in Education Awards

The Rotary Club of Greater Bend selected their Excellence in Education award winners.  Selection was based on nominations
from community members, teachers, other staff and students. Congratulations to the following winners!

April, 2012: SchoolCenter PictureConnie Hoffstetter Named Public Health Hero for 2012

Connie Hoffstetter, school nurse with Bend-La Pine Schools for 12 years, was selected as the Public Health Hero for 2012 by the Deschutes County Public Health Advisory Board for her demonstrated excellence in promoting and protecting public health. The advisory board said, "Connie has ensured that students have an outlet for health and wellness and has made an impact in addressing the needs of students with asthma and establishing a school-based health center in La Pine.  Nurse Connie has become a role model for the students that are looking to further their careers in the health care industry."  Congratulations!



April, 2012: SchoolCenter PicturePeter Hawkins Named 2012 Inspirational Teacher

Summit High School's Peter Hawkins was selected as one of the 2012 Inspirational Teacher award recipients by the University of Washington's Computer Science and Engineering department.  The award is for teachers from any discipline whom their undergraduate students nominated as having been particularly inspirational.  A banquet celebration will be held on May 10, 2012.  Congratulations!

January, 2012:  Amy Halligan Named 2011 Coach of the YearSchoolCenter Picture

Summit High School Boys Swimming & Diving Coach, Amy Halligan, was selected as the 2011 Northwest Sectional Coach of the Year by the national coaches association of the National Federation of State High School Associations.  Congratulations!

Steve Turner, Coach of the Mountain View High School football team, was selected as the Oregon State 5A Football Coach of the Year.  The Mountain View's football team won its first state championship.  Congratulations!

 



November, 2011: SchoolCenter PictureJill Waskom Named 2011 State 5A Volleyball Coach of the Year

Jill Waskom, Coach of Summit High's Girls Volleyball team, was selected as the Oregon 5A State Volleyball Coach of the Year.  The Summit Girl's Volleyball team won its first state title. Congratulations!

Superintendent Ron Wilkinson was selected as the 2012 Oregon Superintendent of the Year by the Oregon Association of
School Executives (OASE), which represents all of Oregon's school superintendents, and the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators (COSA). 
Congratulations!

Tammie Parker, Human Resources, was selected as the Bend-La Pine Schools' 2011 Outstanding Support Person of the Year.  Congratulations!
