The Bend Fire Department offers an internship program entitled: S.P.A.R.C. or Students Preparing A Responsible Community. Selected students will be responsible for representing and assisting the Bend Fire Department with various educational and community events. S.P.A.R.C. students will also be responsible for helping with the development of educational programs for middle and high school students, present fire safety programs at local schools, assist at county fairs, and other department events, while working towards 0.5 high school elective credit. Students are expected to maintain their academics throughout this program, and be able to balance their schoolwork, family, and sports with the program. Participating students cannot have a criminal record. Applications accepted year round. Most recruitment done during the month of September. Training Hours: 72 hours
