Mock interviews allow students a short but realistic interview with employers. Typically interviews are one-on-one, group or panel, and they usually last ten to fifteen minutes. Many times, the interviewers are prescribed a format to follow but are also encouraged to add questions to get to know the interviewee better.

Feedback afterwards is a large part of the learning process and includes comments, suggestions and recommendations for future success. The student is given a rating sheet based on the overall performance and is also provided with informal feedback. The objective is for students to walk away better prepared and more confident of their work-readiness skills.

Typical mock interview questions and topics:

Tell me about yourself.
Why do you want this job?
What makes you qualified for this position?
Describe an accomplishment that you are proud of.
Give an example of your dependability.
What experience do you have in this field?
How do you plan to balance work with school?
What are your plans for the future?
What is your favorite subject in school and why?
Given a hypothetical situation, how would you respond to…?
